Book an Assessment

This is an assessment, not a sign-up. We review your medical history, bloodwork, and body composition before building a plan. If you’re a candidate, you’ll know exactly what’s ahead. If you’re not, we’ll tell you that too.

What happens at your assessment.

Before you arrive

After booking, you’ll receive a pre-assessment intake form by email. Complete it before your appointment — it covers your medical history, current medications, weight history, and goals. This allows your physician to review your file in advance and makes the assessment more efficient.

At your assessment

Your assessment is a comprehensive medical appointment — approximately 45–60 minutes. It covers:

  • Medical history and current medications review
  • Blood work requisition (completed at a lab before or after your assessment)
  • Body composition analysis — fat mass, lean mass, waist circumference
  • Functional baseline testing — grip strength, sit-to-stand, resting heart rate and blood pressure
  • Physician review of your full clinical picture
  • Candidacy determination — you’ll leave knowing whether you qualify and why

After your assessment

Once your blood work results are in, your physician completes the full clinical review and your counsellor contacts you to schedule your first session. Your program begins at week one — structured, supported, and with a clear plan from day one.

What to bring.

Booking virtually?

Virtual assessments are available for patients across Ontario. Your assessment is conducted via secure video. Blood work is requisitioned and completed at a lab near you — results are reviewed before your program begins.

Not everyone qualifies. Here's what we look for.

WeightDoctor accepts patients who meet clinical criteria for physician-supervised weight management. The assessment is where candidacy is determined — not before it. If you don’t qualify, we’ll tell you clearly and point you in the right direction.

If you’re unsure whether you’re a candidate, book the assessment. That’s what it’s for.

Cost and coverage

The WeightDoctor 10-week program is $1,499.

Pay in full at booking, or split into 3 equal payments of $499.67 — due at booking, week 4, and week 8. The total cost is $1,499 either way.

The program fee includes your medical assessment, 2 x 45 mins sessions and 8 x 30 mins counselling sessions, physician file review, and body composition monitoring. Prescription medication is separate and dispensed through your pharmacy.

Physician assessments are billed to OHIP. Most routine blood work is covered by OHIP. The program fee is not OHIP-covered. Weekly counselling sessions may be claimable under extended health benefits — check your plan.
