The WeightDoctor Method™

12 weeks of active treatment. 9 months of maintenance for most patients. One physician-supervised plan, from first assessment to long-term results.

Most weight loss programs end where they should begin. You get a prescription, a calorie target, or a meal plan — and then you’re on your own. WeightDoctor is built differently. Every patient moves through the same four clinical phases, with a physician supervising every decision and a counsellor beside them every week.

A prescription is not a program.

Online GLP-1 services have made weight loss medication more accessible. That’s genuinely useful. What they can’t offer is what happens around the medication — the weekly support, the muscle preservation monitoring, the clinical oversight, and the plan for what comes after.

Medication drives fat loss. Without the rest, patients lose muscle alongside fat, plateau without support, and regain when they stop. WeightDoctor exists to close that gap.

A program built for the metabolic reality of PCOS.

WeightDoctor’s physician-supervised program addresses PCOS-related weight through a clinical framework — not a generic diet protocol.

Medical assessment and bloodwork

Your initial assessment includes bloodwork that captures your metabolic picture — fasting glucose, insulin, lipid panel, inflammatory markers, and hormonal profile where relevant. We’re not guessing at your biology. We’re reading it.

Prescription support where clinically appropriate

For patients with PCOS and significant insulin resistance or metabolic dysfunction, prescription weight loss medication — where indicated — can address some of the hormonal mechanisms that make standard approaches insufficient. Candidacy is determined at your assessment.

Muscle preservation

Women with PCOS who lose weight on medication without a muscle preservation protocol risk losing the lean mass that drives metabolic rate. Our protocol — protein targets, resistance framework, body composition monitoring — protects lean mass throughout treatment.

Weekly counselling

CBT-informed sessions with a nutritional counsellor address the practical realities of eating with PCOS — including strategies for managing insulin response, navigating disordered hunger signals, and building sustainable habits.

HRT and hormonal referral pathway

For patients where hormonal management is a parallel clinical need, WeightDoctor has a referral pathway to HRTDoctor.ca, our physician-led hormone care clinic for women.

The Method

Every WeightDoctor patient follows the same four-phase arc. The pace adapts to your body. The plan doesn’t cut corners.

Phase 1 — ASSESS

We don't prescribe before we understand.

Your first appointment is a comprehensive medical assessment — not a sign-up. We review your bloodwork, body composition, metabolic history, and any medications or conditions that affect how your body manages weight.

This phase answers two questions: Are you a candidate? And if so, what does your body specifically need?

Not everyone qualifies. That’s not a sales tactic — it’s medicine. If you’re not a candidate, we’ll tell you clearly and point you in the right direction.

What’s included:

  • Physician review of medical history
  • Blood work requisition and analysis
  • Body composition assessment
  • Candidacy determination Personalized program design
Phase 2 — TREAT

Rapid, medically supervised weight loss — with real clinical support.

Once you’re confirmed as a candidate, your physician prescribes weight loss medication calibrated to your clinical profile. Medication is dispensed through your pharmacy — you manage it directly, with your physician reviewing your file throughout.

Every patient also receives 2 x 45 mins sessions and 8 x 30 mins sessions with a nutritional counsellor. These sessions are where the real work happens: CBT-informed habit change, nutrition strategy, accountability, and adjustment when things aren’t working.

The medication drives results. The counselling makes them stick.

What’s included:

  • Physician-prescribed weight loss medication (where clinically appropriate)
  • 2 x 45 mins sessions and 8 x 30 mins counselling sessions
  • CBT-informed nutrition and behaviour strategies
  • Ongoing physician file review
  • Titration monitoring and adjustment

Sessions with your counsellor may be claimable under extended health benefits — check your plan.

Every patient also receives 12 weekly 30-minute sessions with a nutritional counsellor. These sessions are where the real work happens: CBT-informed habit change, nutrition strategy, accountability, and adjustment when things aren’t working.

Phase 3 — PROTECT

Lose fat. Not muscle.

Weight loss medication works. It also drives muscle loss if you’re not actively working against it. Most programs don’t address this. We do — because muscle loss slows your metabolism and makes weight regain almost inevitable when treatment ends.

From the start of Phase 2 and throughout Phase 3, we track your body composition — not just your scale weight. We monitor fat mass and lean mass separately, and we adjust your program if muscle is being lost at a rate that puts your long-term results at risk.

The muscle preservation protocol:

  • Body composition tracking at key intervals
  • Protein targets tailored to your body weight
  • Resistance training framework — adapted to your fitness level
  • Titration pace used as a muscle-preservation lever
  • Muscle-stimulation technology for patients who need additional support rebuilding lean mass
Phase 4 — RESTORE

Weight loss changes your body. We help with what comes next.

Significant weight loss changes more than the number on the scale. Skin loses elasticity. Facial volume shifts. Body contour changes in ways that aren’t always what patients expected.

The Restore phase begins as your weight stabilizes. For patients experiencing skin laxity, we offer skin-tightening treatments. For facial volume changes, we work closely with our sister clinic LipDoctor.ca — physician-led non-surgical aesthetic medicine, the same clinical standard.

What’s available in Restore:

  • Skin-tightening treatments for post-weight-loss laxity
  • Continued muscle-stimulation technology for body contouring and tone
  • Referral to LipDoctor.ca for facial restoration
  • Transition to the Maintenance Program

The off-ramp most programs don't have.

Completing 12 weeks isn’t the finish line — it’s the transition point. Most WeightDoctor patients stay in the Maintenance Program for nine months after active treatment, bringing their total journey to approximately one year. Patients who stop all support abruptly have significantly higher rates of weight regain. WeightDoctor’s Maintenance Program keeps you supported without keeping you in treatment forever.

What’s included:

  • Monthly check-in with your counsellor
  • Ongoing physician access if your clinical picture changes
  • Body composition monitoring
  • $100/month

The goal of maintenance is independence — a body you understand, habits that hold, and clinical support available when you need it.

Ontario-wide. Same program. No compromise.

The full WeightDoctor Method™ is available virtually across Ontario. Every phase — assessment, counselling, prescription support, and monitoring — can be completed from home. In-clinic options are available in Mississauga for patients who prefer them.

The first step is a free initial consultation — the assessment is billed to OHIP, so there's no cost to find out if you're a candidate.

We review your medical history, bloodwork, and body composition before building your plan. If you’re a candidate, you’ll know exactly what’s ahead. If you’re not, we’ll tell you that clearly.
